Organisation Description:

P&O Maritime Logistics (POML) is a global company providing specialist maritime service solutions through ownership, operation and management of a fleet of specialized vessels. In Ireland, POML operates two research vessels on behalf of the Marine Institute. The Marine Offshore Services department provides operational and technical support for a wide range of marine projects.
The Company are currently seeking to recruit Instrumentation Technicians for two different departments. Graduates and candidates with experience are encouraged to apply

Summary of the Roles:

1. Research Vessel Technician
The Research Vessel Instrumentation Technician is responsible for the delivery of scientific and 
survey instrumentation support services ashore & onboard the Marine Institute Research 
Vessels. The role also involves the support of IT & communication equipment. The role requires 
the operation, upkeep, maintenance and repair of scientific instrumentation on board vessels 
and in the equipment pool. This role is part office and part sea going. 

2. Marine Offshore Services Technician
The Marine Offshore Services Technician will be responsible for the maintenance, deployment &
recovery of a range of offshore data collection platforms, including weather buoys, underwater 
observatories and autonomous underwater vehicles. The role requires technical experience in 
the areas of IT/Electronics/Mechatronics. Training will be provided. The role will be shore based, 
however some time at sea will be required.

Educational and Professional Requirements:

• Tertiary qualifications in Electronics, Instrumentation, Mechatronics or Electrical Engineering 
• Experience in the marine sector or related industries
• Seagoing experience preferable but not essential
• Working knowledge of instrumentation used for marine surveys 
• Experience in working with complex electronic instrumentation and equipment 
• Experience or working in Teams 
• Computer literate, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) 
• Experience of Desktop support in network environment
• Full drivers’ licence is essential

Normal working hours are varied depending on working ashore or at sea.
