Organisation Description:

The Marine Institute is the national agency responsible for marine research, technology, development and innovation (RTDI). The Marine Institute seeks to assess and realise the economic potential of Ireland’s 220-million-acre marine resource; promote the sustainable development of marine industry through strategic funding programmes and scientific services; and safeguard the marine environment through research and environmental monitoring. The Institute works in conjunction with the Department of Agriculture, Food and Marine (DAFM) and a network of other Government Departments, semi-state agencies, national and international marine partners.

Summary of the Role:

The successful candidate will work in close cooperation with Director of PIRS and hold primary responsibility for the implementation and delivery of MI commitments in the BlueMissionAA Coordination and Support Action (https://bluemissionaa.eu/) funded under Horizon Europe. BlueMissionAA will be the coordination hub that will support the implementation of the EU Mission Restore our Ocean and Waters by 2030 in the Atlantic and Arctic basins.

Educational and Professional Requirements:

•    A primary degree in a relevant area (e.g. science, sustainability, business or finance);
•    A minimum of three years’ experience in EU project or programme management;
•    Proven ability to manage and integrate complex requirements into clear action planning, and succinct documents and strategies;
•    Demonstrate full independence, impartiality and confidentiality in conducting the scope of work;
•    Demonstrated ability to identify, evaluate and manage risk;
•    Demonstrated experience of working in roles that require working on own initiative;
•    Demonstrated ability to work in an environment with high demands and outputs and an environment with evolving demands;
•    Track record of producing financial, technical and management reports.
•    Demonstrated experience and knowledge of working in roles that include ensuring compliance with good governance practice and compliance practices;
•    Excellent written, verbal and communication skills with an ability to maintain good relations with customers, peers and direct reports;
•    High level of accuracy and attention to detail; Confident and assured in explaining requirements to others and ensuring compliance with organisation policies and procedures
 

Contract Duration: 

This temporary specified purpose contract of employment will be for the period up to the end of December 2026. The successful candidate will be on probation for the first twelve months of this contract.
