Organisation Description:
The Marine Institute is the national agency responsible for marine research, technology, development and innovation (RTDI). The Marine Institute seeks to assess and realise the economic potential of Ireland’s 220-million-acre marine resource; promote the sustainable development of marine industry through strategic funding programmes and scientific services; and safeguard the marine environment through research and environmental monitoring. The Institute works in conjunction with the Department of Agriculture, Food and Marine (DAFM) and a network of other Government Departments, semi-state agencies, national and international marine partners.
Summary of the Role:
The permanent Human Resources Operations & Systems Coordinator will work within the Human Resources (HR) team to support the delivery of HR related projects linked to the Marine Institute strategic plan, the HR charter and the continuing development of our “Excellence Through People” certified HR services. The role will include coordination of the Learning and Development programme of the Marine Institute (MI), supporting MI employees with leave policies, processes and related systems for the organisation as well as coordinating training, information sharing and troubleshooting for HR systems and platforms.

Educational and Professional Requirements
- A relevant third level degree
- Relevant experience with description of what that should entail for this position
- An interest in working in a busy Human Resources environment in a scientific and technical organisation, where every day is different.
- Ideally you will have at least 18 months of post qualification work experience in a busy Human Resources or office environment.
- High levels of computer literacy, to include MS Office, HR management information systems or similar databases (ideally to include payroll functionality, CORE Insight H.R. & Payroll and employee time management software).
- Demonstrated experience in carrying out desk research and producing reports.
- Demonstrated experience in providing training and support to others.
- Proven project and time management skills with the ability to deliver multiple, time sensitive outputs.
- Previous experience working in a confidential environment with knowledge of data retention in line with GDPR.
- Effective numerical and literacy skills.
- Demonstrable data analysis skills. Ability to manage, interpret and present data and recommendations articulately.
- A proven ability to be well organised, managing time effectively to ensure the delivery of projects to tight deadlines.
- The ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally at all levels – ideally with experience of updating web content and producing information materials and communications.
