About the Business
P&O Maritime Services (POMS) is a global company providing specialist maritime service solutions through ownership, operation and management of a fleet of specialised vessels for customers’ long-term requirements. In Ireland, POMS operate two research vessels on behalf of the Marine Institute. The Company are currently seeking to recruit a 2nd Engineer for its Irish managed research vessels, the Celtic Explorer and the Tom Crean.
About the Role
The 2nd Engineer will undertake duties in engine room management and maintenance, whilst either watchkeeping or on day work as determined by the vessel’s activities. Please read the job description here.
Qualifications and Experience
• Minimum 2nd Engineer Unlimited Certificate of Competency – Motorships
• Chief Engineer COC/CEC Unlimited is preferable but not essential
• All STCW 95 short course certification incl. Seafarers Ship Medical (ENG11 or equivalent)
• Hold a certificate of Equivalent Competency CEC to serve on ships registered in Ireland
• Experience with Diesel Electric Propulsion, medium / high speed diesel engines and
Research Vessel operations is desirable but not essential
• Experience with electronic planned maintenance systems – e.g. NSE
