Organisation Description:
The Marine Institute is the national agency responsible for marine research, technology, development and innovation (RTDI). The Marine Institute seeks to assess and realise the economic potential of Ireland’s 220-million-acre marine resource; promote the sustainable development of marine industry through strategic funding programmes and scientific services; and safeguard the marine environment through research and environmental monitoring. The Institute works in conjunction with the Department of Agriculture, Food and Marine (DAFM) and a network of other Government Departments, semi-state agencies, national and international marine partners.
Summary of the Role:
The successful candidate will be providing a range of supports to the Director and the Tendering & Procurement Coordinator. Activities will include supporting the Director with communications and administration; supporting the tendering and procurement processes; assisting with the Contracts Management systems; and the provision of related governance, audit and finance supports

Educational and Professional Requirements:
- A relevant qualification in Business Administration, Accounting Technician or similar administrative area and relevant experience.
- At least 18-months of relevant work experience in a busy Administrative environment (ideally to include experience in procurement).
- Understanding of public procurement
- Proven experience with governance and auditing.
- Demonstrated ability in project reporting and record keeping, ideally including financial records.
- Strong administration skills with good attention to detail and high accuracy levels.
- Direct relevant experience in managing multiple deadlines and deliverables.
- The ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team.
- Effective numerical and literacy skills.
- Experience in the use of relevant I.T. packages including web based software, updating websites and producing publicity materials.
- Strong customer service skills.
- The ability to communicate in writing and verbally at all levels.
