Our teacher training courses are fun, action-packed, and provide an exciting opportunity to discover the seashore in entirely new ways. The face-to-face and online courses are approved by the Department of Education.

Our Explorers Face to Face 5-day course runs from Wednesday 1st – Tuesday 7th July, with a break for the weekend.
The Online course runs from the 1st July – 21st August where teachers can work at their own pace.

FACE TO FACE COURSE | Exploring the Seashore using Creative Cross Curricular Learning and Skills Development

On the Shore: Spend up to three days on your local shoreline exploring rockpools, amazing animals, and seaweeds. We’ll play team-building games and learn engaging, hands-on ways to put ocean literacy and seashore care into action.

In the Classroom: Dive into interactive STEM and creative activities. From designing flood defences to creating rock art, there is something for every learning style. Using our innovative resources, we'll explore marine litter, biodiversity loss, and climate change, all while tying into the UN Sustainable Development Goals and fostering empathy for nature.

What You Need to Know

Lunch: Complimentary lunch is provided daily.

Resources: Receive specially printed Marine Institute’s Explorers Education Programme’s 20th Anniversary resource packs and posters, and Climate Change resources provided by the EU BlueLightS and Explorers Innovative Project.

What to Wear: Dress for all weather! Bring wellies or hiking boots, a raincoat, and sunscreen. (Tip: Rinse footwear in fresh water after beach activities!)
