In March 2006, P&O Maritime Services (Ireland) Ltd commenced provision of ship management, operation and maintenance services for the Marine Institute’s two research vessels the
Celtic Explorer and the Celtic Voyager . The support services are provided through P&O Maritime Services’ shore and sea based employees based in Galway. They include:
- Vessel crewing management
- Technical and operational ship management
- Engineering and workshop management
- Scientific equipment and instrumentation management
- Vessel and shore side infrastructure safety and security management
The ship management and operation services are provided to international standards and in accordance with P&O Maritime Services’ occupational health, safety, environment and quality systems and corporate governance requirements.
